Flying with Wizz Air, March is usually the cheapest month to fly from London Gatwick to Rome.
Shoulder season (mid-March to May) is typically considered the ideal time for a trip to Rome. The weather is nicely warm and tourists are few and far in between. However, prices are generally higher over Easter week and Rome’s birthday celebrations. If you’re looking for a budget friendly trip, off-season (October-early March) is perfect for you. It’s not too cold, with average temperatures hovering around 10°C. You’ll still be able to do lots of sightseeing with very few crowds and even save money on lower-priced hotels and accommodations. Time your trip around Christmas and witness the magical Christmas tree at St. Peter’s Square and festive markets in all the town squares. Remember to pack an umbrella as November and December are considered to be Rome’s wettest months.
Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport is Rome’s main and busiest international airport, located 25 kilometres southwest of the city. Trenitalia-operated Leonardo Express train leaves every 15 minutes to reach Termini Station in just half an hour. Alternatively, car hire and taxi services are also available.
