- An additional 350,000 seats on sale from Kutaisi with total number of seats on sale rising to 1,235,000 from Georgia
- A brand new route launching in 2023, with nine routes operating with increased frequency
Wizz Air, Europe's fastest-growing and most Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing and most environmentally sustainable airline globally*, announces further expansion to its base in Georgia, where it allocates one of its Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The allocation of this additional aircraft is enabling the launch of another new route as well as increased frequency on nine routes from David the Builder Kutaisi International Airport. The new route can be already booked, with tickets available now at wizzair.com or on the airline's mobile app.
The allocation of one more aircraft to Wizz Air’s Kutaisi base will grow the base to four aircraft. The move brings the number of routes from the base to 28, including the launch of a new route from Georgia’s second largest city. Passengers will now be able to fly to Copenhagen in Denmark as well. Furthermore, the additional capacity allows Wizz Air to increase the frequency of its flights from the base to Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Dortmund, Memmingen, Milano, Paris Beauvais, Prague, and Rome.
"We are delighted to be expanding in Georgia, demonstrating our commitment to growing our presence in the market by doubling the number of aircraft we will operate from the country in just one year. The allocation of another additional aircraft in Georgia allows us to further strengthen our market offer, providing our Georgian customers the opportunity to travel on a total of 28 routes to 17 countries with us and increase the tourism to this beautiful and culturally rich country, connecting Georgia with so many destinations” comments Evelin Jeckel, Acting Network Officer of Wizz Air.
“We have reached an important agreement with our strategic partner. By the end of 2023, there will be 4 Wizz Air aircraft based at the Kutaisi International Airport. This will lead to the employment of local staff even more and will create up to 40 new jobs. Also, another based aircraft will guarantee that the airline will be able to optimize the number of flights and frequencies on the existing routes. The fourth base aircraft also allows the Kutaisi airport to gradually transform from a small Wizz Air base to a medium-sized base. Which is a prerequisite for further stable development and growth” - said Irakli Karkashadze, CEO of United Airports of Georgia.
