Wizz Air Europe’s fastest growing and most sustainable airline* and the largest airline in Gdansk, is pleased to announce the addition of its 8th based aircraft to Gdańsk in April 2024. This strategic move not only reaffirms Wizz Air’s market-leading
position in the region but also emphasizes its unwavering commitment to growth and excellence in Poland. The expansion is a testament to the close working relationship between Wizz Air and Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, which has been essential in fostering
the airline's continuous growth.
Wizz Air started operations in Gdańsk in August 2004 and carried over 25 million passengers during 19 years of successful operations. The 8th aircraft that will join the Gdańsk base in April 2024, will provide over 500,000 additional seats to the
Polish market offering more travel alternatives when booking flights with Wizz Air. With the addition of the new Airbus A321 aircraft Wizz Air will also launch 2 new routes from Gdansk to Valencia in Spain and Rome Fiumicino in Italy and increase
weekly frequencies on 12 existing routes from Gdańsk thus, offering more low fare travel options to its customers.
Wizz Air has been continuously developing its presence in Poland, having carried almost 100 million passengers from Poland in the past 19 years. The airline has 5 bases in the country: Warsaw, Gdansk, Katowice, Krakow and Wroclaw, operates to 13 Polish
airports and employs over 1,300 colleagues within Poland, while further creating over 8,300 indirect local jobs in related industries. In 2023 Wizz Air offers over 11 million seats on sale to and from Poland, bringing truly affordable travel opportunities
to passengers, contributing to the local economy and stimulating tourism.

Following the announcement, Wizz Air offers 36 low-fare routes from Gdańsk to 17 countries in Europe, including the recently launched leisure routes to Tirana, Copenhagen, Alicante, and long-awaited Tenerife.
