A city worth knowing – the slogan promoting the capital of Wielkopolska is not just empty words. Rich history, magnificent monuments, excellent cuisine and charming surroundings. Without a shadow of doubt, Poznań is one of the places to visit, and not just for a one night.
POZNAŃ… YOU’LL LOVE IT!
Firstly, the monuments. Poznań abounds in them. The most memorable ones include the Renaissance Town Hall in the Old Market Square, the famous goats butting their heads up the Town Hall’s tower everyday at noon, or the Royal Castle – the oldest preserved royal residence in Poland. Secondly, tourist infrastructure with its centre at Lake Malta. On the northern shore of the lake, there is Termy Maltańskie water park, which is the largest sports and recreation centre in Poland. Thirdly, nature. Two zoological gardens, a botanical garden and numerous city parks will allow you to chill out.
Poznań is also an excellent base for excursions! If you want to spend your time outdoors, you will find dozens of breathtaking spots in Wielkopolska. It is the land of lush forests, picturesque lakes and nature reserves, such as Dolina Baryczy (Barycz Valley). The beautiful landscapes allow having a break from the bustle of the city and spending time actively, e.g. riding a bicycle.
Are you a history enthusiast? Great! Wielkopolska is abundant in places with rich history. You can follow the Piastowski Trail to delve into the history of Poland, or visit historic palaces in Rogalin or Kórnik. Simply go and see!
SO MANY FLAVOURS TO TASTE
Poznań is famous for its excellent cuisine. On the one hand, there is the regional cuisine, full of local ingredients. The capital of Wielkopolska is where you can eat traditional “pyry z gzikiem”, which is the Poznań name for potatoes served with cottage cheese with chive, or Poland’s most delicious duck with red cabbage. However, traditional cuisine is not all. Poznań abounds in trendy bars, charming patisseries and ice-cream parlours, which make the flavour of Poznań truly unforgettable!
