City breaks, nature getaways or country retreats can all be enjoyed in vibrant Lithuania!
Why Visit Lithuania?
The capital of Vilnius offers bars, nightlife and cuisine, Kernavė offers one of Europe’s livelier venues for celebrating the summer solstice, endless cities and towns offer their own take on the local cuisine, and the coast of the Baltic Sea makes for a beautiful day of relaxing by the water.
What to See in Lithuania
Lithuania has more than a few memorable sights, including the Hill of Crosses just outside Siauliai, which hosts 100,000 crosses left by pilgrims. A pagan take on the same theme exists near the Curonian Spit, where 80 wood sculptures of witches and folk creatures are erected. The Kernavė Archaeological Site offers more history, stretching back 10,000 years, and Trakai’s lake castle could be the setting of a fairy tale.
Lithuania’s Sand Dunes
An unexpected feature of this Baltic country, Lithuania is, in fact, home to the highest moving dunes on the continent, the Curonian Spit. With most averaging 25 metres in height, and with a 61-mile long strip to explore, a day on the dunes is sure to be unforgettable!
