Tashkent is a city in Uzbekistan. With a population of 2 574 000 it is the 1st city in Uzbekistan. The closest airport to Tashkent is Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, which is 12 km from the city centre.

Famous local dishes include Plov, prepared with rice, meat (beef or lamb), onions, carrots, garlic and dried fruit including sultanas or barberries cooked in giant cauldrons called kazans and Manty, which is a dumpling filled with minced meat, fat and onions. It is cooked over steam and served with ketchup, vinegar or sour cream. Some variations of manty are also made with pumpkin or potatoes without meat.

Tashkent Ferenc Liszt International Airport, formerly known as Tashkent Ferihegy International Airport and still often called just Ferihegy, is situated 16 kilometres from the city centre. Despite being Hungary's premier commercial airport, it’s easy to navigate: Terminal 1 is for charter and private flights, whilte Terminal 2A and 2B are for flights inside and outside the Schengen Area. It’s also easy to reach: bus no. 100E runs between the airport and Deák Ferenc Square, the very heart of the city. Taxis and car hire are also available.
