Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe* today celebrates the 10 year anniversary of its first flight from Katowice in southern Poland to London Luton on May 19th 2004. Wizz Air was established with the ambition of making flying more affordable to the citizens of CEE. To the end of 2013, Wizz Air carried a total of 69 million passengers. Wizz Air has built a current network of over 300 routes and 96 destinations across 35 countries. In FY 2014, Wizz Air carried 13.9 million passengers and looks forward to welcoming many more passengers on board its flights in the years ahead.
Constantly looking to develop its low fare offer, Wizz Air hopes to build on its success by seeking more opportunities in existing countries and opening up new markets, certain of which have historically been underserved by low-cost carriers.
To mark this special occasion, and to show its appreciation to all of its customers, Wizz Air is giving away every second seat on bookings made on any route until midnight tonight on wizzair.com.**
Wizz Air’s CEO Jόzsef Váradi, said: “I am very proud to reach such an important milestone. We have reached this important day following 10 years of hard work by an outstanding team of professionals. Our last 10 years have seen rapid growth, constant innovation, giving our customers the freedom to travel and pursue new experiences and opportunities. As Wizz Air, and its dedicated staff, enters our next decade we will continue to challenge competitors and offer low fares and great customer service. Today I would like to thank all of our customers for their loyalty and for being part of Wizz Air’s incredible journey.”
