Wizz Air, one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines and the leading LCC in Ukraine, today celebrated 11 years of its presence in Ukraine, as well as the 11th base anniversary in Kyiv, where Wizz Air has been democratizing air travel for over a decade and offering low fares to 31 exciting destinations.
Responding to the increasing demand for WIZZ services and low fares, over the past year Wizz Air has in March increased its local base operations from Kyiv with a fourth modern Airbus A320 aircraft joining the local fleet with a total investment in its Kyiv base to over $400 million* while employing a local team of more than 140 aviation professionals and supporting over 600 jobs** on annual basis.
Always looking to bring unique and affordable travel opportunities to Ukrainian passengers, this year Wizz Air has already launched 10 new routes from Ukraine while offering flights not only to the countries where the airline has already been operating its flights but also creating exciting new opportunities to discover European countries. Athens, Thessaloniki, Bremen, Billund, Riga, Lublin. Leipzig and Krakow are now available from Kyiv, as well as Copenhagen from Lviv and Krakow from Kharkiv. In 2019 Wizz Air will provide more than 2.6 million seats on Ukrainian routes, which represents a 60% growth compared to the previous year, with an extensive offer of 46 routes to 13 European countries and ticket fares from as low as UAH 269***.
Wizz Air is the pioneer of affordable travel in Ukraine, and since its first international flight from Kyiv to London Luton in 2008, the airline has carried over 9million passengers to and from. The airline’s operations continue to provide Ukrainian passengers affordable travel opportunities connecting Ukraine with the rest of Europe, while contributing to the development of the local community and economy and stimulating the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors.
