Wizz Air Ukraine today announced it is the new title sponsor of the Kyiv City Marathon. The will be the first time that the Kyiv City Marathon has been named after a sponsor partner. The race will be held on 27 April as the “Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon”. The sponsorship agreement was signed by Akos Bus, Director General of Wizz Air Ukraine and Dmitriy Chernitskiy, General Manager of the Kyiv City Marathon for the past five years.
2014 marks the fifth year the Kyiv City Marathon will take place in the heart of the Ukrainian capital. Launched in 2010, there has been growing interest in the event each year and in 2013, 1,693 participants from 33 countries took part in the fourth Kyiv City Marathon.
Speaking in Kyiv today, Akos Bus, Director General of Wizz Air Ukraine, said: "Wizz Air Ukraine believes in mobility and active living. As a sign of our commitment to the beautiful country of Ukraine we are happy to call on all the runners to participate in the International WIZZ AIR KYIV CITY MARATHON which will take place on 27 April 2014. Our low fares have enabled over 1 million Ukrainians to travel since 2008 for work and leisure and it is a fitting partnership to unite the Wizz Air Ukraine brand with the Kyiv City Marathon. There are just over three weeks until the race and I call on all Ukrainians to tighten their shoelaces and run the Wizz Air Kyiv Marathon.”
Dmitry Chernitskii, General Manager of the Kyiv Marathon, noted: "I consider the cooperation between Kyiv Marathon and Wizz Air Ukraine to be a great success for both parties. Our five-year cooperation contract guarantees stable development of the Kyiv Marathon. This year, the Marathon is especially important and holds a deep, patriotic meaning for us.
