Wizz Air to begin operations from Arad with flights to Milan-Bergamo, Italy

Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, announced today that it will begin operations from Arad International Airport, marking the restart of scheduled commercial flights from the airport. Wizz Air will fly two weekly flights, on Tuesday and Saturday, to Milan-Bergamo (Italy) as of 23 June 2012.

Wizz Air, who already operates flights to Milan-Bergamo from Timisoara Airport, will add an additional airport to the region to service the strong demand for flights from Arad to Northern Italy, a popular destination for both business and leisure travelers. The new route will operate on days of the week in complement to the Timisoara service. Wizz Air sees the opening of this route as an initial investment to expand the coverage of service between Romania and Northern Italy, an opportunity that was realized in conjunction with airport management and Arad County Council officials. Arad International Airport becomes the 5th Romanian airport to operate Wizz Air flights and this expansion reinforces the airline’s position as the largest airline in the country.

To celebrate the opening of this new route, Wizz Air will offer promotional seats from Arad to Milan-Bergamo at the low price of 93 RON. Seats are on sale as of today on!

“Romanians fly Wizz Air because they know that they can experience the excitement of air travel for lower fares than the competition. Now travelers who live in and around Arad will be that much closer to a world-class tourist and business destination. The city has also increased its attractiveness as a hub of industry and tourism in Western Romania. We remain committed to serving the region and anticipate growth of our operations in the future,” said György Abrán, Chief Commercial Officer of Wizz Air.
