baggage

Due to security measures, Wizz Air will not carry any baggage without their owners being on board the aircraft (except mishandled baggage).

checked baggage

The maximum dimensions for one piece of baggage to fit through the cargo hold door are:
Width: 1,499 m (59 inches)
Height: 1,194 m (47 inches)
Length: 1,715 m (67,5 inches)
Passengers are allowed to check-in a maximum of 20 kilograms without incurring an excess baggage fee. Should the weight of all the checked-in baggages combined exceed 20 kilograms, an excess baggage fee must be paid at the airport upon check-in.
Hold and hand baggage allowances cannot be combined.
Due to health and safety reasons the weight of any one piece of checked baggage must not exceed 32 kilograms.
Any piece of baggage to be checked-in is subject to a fee, payable per bag, per flight and per passenger. The number of bags you wish to check in must be indicated and paid for during the booking process. If further pieces of baggage are paid for later, a higher Baggage Fee applies. If passenger checks in fewer pieces of baggage than had been paid for, Baggage Fee will not be refunded.
It is the passenger’s responsibility to respond to all requests from security authorities if required. If baggage is not transported because a passenger has not approached security when requested, Wizz Air will not be held responsible for any associated costs.
Checked baggage will, whenever possible, be carried on the same aircraft as the passenger to whom it belongs. If we decide for safety, security or operational reasons to carry it on an alternative flight, we will not be liable for the delay of the baggage.
In order to return mishandled baggage to its owner within reasonable dispatch time, all baggage must be marked with the passenger's name, initials and address before it is handed over for carriage.
Children's prams and pushchairs shall be checked in with other baggage and will be carried free of charge.
Articles not accepted in checked baggage:
  • cash, securities
  • jewellery, precious metal, precious and semi-precious stones
  • computer, camera, video camera, cellular phone and any other electronic or technical appliances and their accessories
  • official, business or private documents

New security regulation on hand baggage for all passengers departing airports in the EU

From November 6, 2006, new rules for the contents of hand baggage will apply for all airline passengers throughout the European Union (EU). Passengers may only carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their hand baggage in small units (max. 100 ml per container). The packaging of these products must also meet specific requirements. This applies for all passengers departing from airports within the European Union. Rules regarding checked-in baggage remain unchanged.
The new rules apply for liquids such as water and other soft drinks, but also extend to gels, pastes, lotions, and aerosols. This includes toiletries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, hair gel, lip gloss, and facial creams.
The following rules apply for liquids in hand baggage:
  • You are only allowed to carry liquids and gels in containers of a volume of 100 ml or less
  • You may carry more than one container but they must fit in one transparent plastic bag
  • The volume of the transparent plastic bag may not exceed 1 litre
  • Each passenger may only carry one such transparent plastic bag
  • The transparent plastic bag must be re-sealable (any bag that can be closed again after opening – this may be by means of "ziplok", ties, string or even tying the bag into a knot, provided that a person can also open it easily)
Two exceptions will be made:
  • baby food that is required during the flight
  • medication that is required during the flight
You will still be allowed to make (tax-free) purchases at European airports after passing through passport control and aboard flights operated by European airlines. Liquids and gels that you purchase after passing through passport control or aboard the aircraft will be packed and sealed for you in the shop or on board, if necessary. The package seal will remain valid for 24 hours.

Separate presentation of contents

When passing through security control, you will be required to present all liquids separately. The transparent plastic bag should be sealed and easily re-sealable. You are also required to separately present your coat, jacket and larger electrical equipment, such as laptops, when passing through security control.
