SLOVENIA IS...

Green. Active. Healthy.

Slovenia is a place in central Europe where the mighty Alps meet with the colourful Mediterranean, the peaceful Pannonian Plain and the mysterious Karst. It is a place where green prevails – and there is a special shade of green in Slovenia, Slovenian green. Where nature is a source of green tranquillity. Where nature is an inspiration for an active lifestyle in harmony with itself. Where, every day, nature serves as a training ground for numerous world-renowned Slovenian athletes and where nature is the source of health. How can we summarize what Slovenia is? Slovenia is… Green. Active. Healthy. For the 2 million people who live here and for everyone who visits.

• GREEN.

The colour green is largely provided in Slovenia by its forests that cover nearly two thirds of its territory; in this way, Slovenia is the third most forested country in Europe. About one third of Slovenia's territory is protected within the framework of the Natura 2000 European network of nature-protected areas. Moreover, on its 20,000 km2, Slovenia has 28 thousand kilometres of watercourses and more than 1300 lakes, while being among the most biologically diverse countries in the world.

• ACTIVE.

Slovenia is active in nature and soul. There are numerous kilometres of hiking trails all around Slovenia, while mountaineering is considered to be the Slovenian national sport; moreover, Slovenia is also an excellent winter destination with more than 80 ski slopes, while Slovenian rivers provide exciting and safe water experiences. The sporting character of Slovenia is also evidenced by its numerous top-level athletes who are among the best in the world, while Slovenia gained its recognition as a sports-loving country from hosting several international competitions and cups.

• HEALTHY.

The benefits of Slovenian thermal waters were initially discovered by the Romans. Nowadays, 15 Slovenian spas offer high-quality and comprehensive health services, based on centuries-old tradition; moreover, well-being services are supplemented by numerous wellness providers.
