Launching the first flight to Rome, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Iurie Leancă, stated that the Government is delivering on a promise made three years ago: to deliver better and more affordable air transport. “Today we prove that the interests and needs of our citizens are well understood and dealt with. A team of dedicated people in the Government made it possible to negotiate in a record period of three months the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the EU. People of Moldova are enjoying the first results of this Agreement, and namely the liberalisation of our air space, and inauguration of the first Wizz Air flights.”

Enrico Nunziata, Ambassador of Italy to Moldova, said: “Wizz Air’s low fares will help indeed many Moldovan citizens working in Italy to visit their families at home more frequently and at the same time allow Moldovan tourists to visit Italian cities famous for their art and culture, like Rome, Florence, Venice and many others, and to spend less on their Italian holidays. Italian and Moldovan business people will have access to more flights to strengthen commercial ties. In the perspective of a gradual integration into the European Union there is a need for more flights connecting Moldova to the main European destinations and to Italy in particular and in this framework the Italian Embassy in Chisinau really welcomes the two first Wizz Air flights to Moldova.”

“We are very excited to be here in Chisinau to welcome the first Wizz Air flights on one of our new Airbus A320 aircraft. This represents an important step for Wizz Air and also for all of Moldova, which has now easier and cheaper access to Venice and Rome. This is great news for consumers and also an opportunity to develop Moldovan tourism and we look forward to welcoming many passengers on board”- said Wizz Air’s Daniel de Carvalho.
