Durham Tees Valley

By car

There are good major dual carriageway roads around the airport with very little congestion and easy access from the A1(M), A19 and the A66. Durham Tees Valley Airport is 6 miles east of Darlington, on the A67, 9 miles west of Middlesbrough via the A66 and 24 miles south of Durham via the A1(M). From Durham and Newcastle:
Follow the A1(M) southbound and exit at J59 and follow signs for the airport – journey time from Durham is approximately 35 minutes (Newcastle 60 minutes depending on departure point and traffic).
From Middlesbrough:
Take the A66 westbound and exit at Longnewton junction following signs for the airport – journey time approximately 15 minutes.
From Darlington:
Take the A67 eastbound following signs for the airport – journey time approximately 10-15 minutes.

Car parking

The car park is situated directly in front of the terminal building and is monitored by security staff. The car park has high security fencing is comprehensively illuminated with flood lights and operates with 24 hour CCTV surveillance. There is no specified long term car park as the car park is within easy reach of the Terminal building (from 10 metres).

By rail

With over 40 trains per day from/to Durham, Newcastle and York, Darlington is on the East Coast main rail line and is a busy railway connection point. With the dedicated direct free Tees Valley Sky Express bus service to and from the airport every 30 minutes most parts of the region are accessible within one hour. Please see below for approximate return journey prices. Darlington-Durham: £5.80 (approximately €8.40); Darlington-Newcastle: £7.70 (€11.20); Darlington-York: £13.70 (€19.85). By bus

The Tees Valley Sky Express direct bus service (737) operates between the airport, Darlington train station and town hall and is free to use for air passengers – all that is required is confirmation of flight (airline tickets, boarding cards, e-tickets). The bus runs from 07:00 to 22:35 every 30 minutes (hourly before 10:00 and after 20:30) and connects with over 40 trains per day to the major destinations of Durham, Newcastle and York within our catchment area (Please see the separate presentation attachment for example connections).

Taxi

There is a taxi rank outside the airport terminal which is operated by the airport taxi association.
