Wizz Air launches new flights from Sofia to Dortmund

Wizz Air announced today that it would start new flights from Sofia to Dortmund. It is the airline’s third route from Sofia following the already operated London and Rome services.

Wizz Air has been operating a base in Sofia with one aircraft and local crew since early 2006. In addition to its Sofia services Wizz Air’s Bulgarian network includes a number of summer routes to Bourgas and Varna, the increasingly popular Black Sea destinations from the UK, Poland and Hungary.

The first flight between Sofia and Dortmund will take off on 29 October, 2007 and will be operated 2 times a week initially.

Regular one way fares start from as low as EUR 24,99 one way, including taxes and charges.

On today’s press conference in Sofia, John Stephenson, Chief Commercial Officer of Wizz Air said: ‘Wizz Air is already serving 5 destinations from Dortmund and adding Sofia was a natural extension of the network. We are also delighted to be the first low cost airline to offer direct connections between the Bulgarian capital and Dortmund. The new route will serve the increasing demand of both leisure as well as business passengers and create a new, affordable and fast connection for the VFR traffic. We also believe that Sofia will become a very popular destination for the German tourists eager to discover the beautiful capital of the new EU member-state.”
